Ambient air is the fuel for the MicroSilk® process. Air is drawn into the system through a venturi and dissolved into the water at elevated pressures. The microbubbles are then produced by our patented process of pushing the water through turns and orifices, continually breaking down the bubbles into microbubbles. The bubbles are gently released into the bath through a port in the sidewall of the tub.
Because microbubbles are capable of remaining suspended in the bath water, the water turns milky white with a dense “mist” or “cloud” formation from the bubbles. The cloud of microbubbles takes 1 to 2 minutes to form and gradually dissolves, creating:
- High levels of dissolved oxygen in the bath water
- An exothermic reaction – release of heat energy
- Therapeutic levels of anions
The MicroSilk® system is the first to introduce microbubble immersion to a bathing vessel. Microbubble cleansing technology has been used in industrial and very large-scale applications for its ability to clean equipment without the use of soaps or chemical cleaners. The patented MicroSilk® system harnessed the industrial use of microbubbles and made it more gentle and soothing for a beneficial and enjoyable bathing experience.
MicroSilk® hydrotherapy oxygenates bath water up to 70% more than regular tap water with microbubbles. These microbubbles are miniature gas bubbles measuring less than 50 microns (.002”) in diameter. While small, they are full of air. The smaller the bubble, the slower it is to rise to the top of the water. Thus, microbubbles suspend in the water and form a “cloud” around the bather.
The microbubbles are not only tiny, but negatively charged. Thus, the positively charged dirt and impurities on skin are attracted to the negatively charged microbubbles as they surround and enter the pores and sebaceous glands removing impurities, carrying oxygen for improved metabolism, lightly caressing skin for exfoliation, and improving hydration for dry skin.
